Event Week

General Information

To ensure the smooth running of the Southern Tasmanian Dancing Eisteddfod, please note the following:

  • All competitors participate at their own risk.
  • Competitors must report to the Backstage Marshall at least 15 minutes before their scheduled class.
  • Season Tickets must be named, are non-transferable, and cannot be replaced if lost.
  • Backstage access is restricted to teachers, competitors, and authorised competition officials.
  • Dressing rooms are reserved for teachers, competitors, and competition officials. Please do not use these areas as waiting rooms.
  • Alcohol is strictly prohibited in dressing rooms, backstage areas, and the auditorium.

Car Parking

Parking is available onsite for patrons and visitors.

Please note that all vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk.

Photography & Video Recording

The Southern Tasmanian Dancing Eisteddfod Committee is committed to protecting the privacy and wellbeing of children, as well as respecting intellectual property rights.

Unauthorised photography and video recording are not permitted. The Committee reserves the right to:

  • Prevent unauthorised photography or filming.
  • Request the cessation of recording activities.
  • Remove individuals from the auditorium for non-compliance.
  • Confiscate or require the deletion of unauthorised recordings.

By entering the auditorium, all patrons agree to these conditions.

Competition Etiquette

Competitions provide a wonderful opportunity to develop performance skills, build confidence, and celebrate a shared passion for dance. We ask all competitors to demonstrate respect, professionalism, and good sportsmanship at all times.

Competitor Expectations

Respect and Sportsmanship

  • Be polite, courteous, and represent your dance school positively.
  • Encourage and support fellow dancers, regardless of age, ability, or background.
  • Treat others with kindness, respect, and compassion.
  • Congratulate fellow competitors and celebrate their achievements.

Positive Behaviour

  • Bullying, harassment, or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated, whether in person, online, through social media, or via text messaging.
  • If you feel uncomfortable or concerned about any situation, speak with your teacher or a committee member immediately.

Backstage Conduct

  • Be ready when called for your performance.
  • Do not move into the wings until the previous competitor has finished performing and exited the stage.
  • Keep noise to a minimum backstage and in the wings.
  • Stand well back from the stage. If you can see the audience, they can see you.

Presentation and Performance

  • Ensure costumes are appropriately covered while in public or front-of-house areas.
  • Respect the adjudicator’s decisions at all times. Adjudicators are experienced professionals, and all decisions are final.
  • Most importantly, do your best, enjoy the experience, and have fun.
